TWO high profile health bosses have agreed to attend a public meeting early next month which has been organised by South West Surrey MP Jeremy Hunt and his colleague Guildford MP Anne Milton. Royal Surrey Chief Executive Nick Moberley has vowed to attend to listen to concerned stakeholders who are worried about the future of services provided at Royal Surrey County Hospital.Nick Yeo, who is Chief Executive of the North Surrey Primary Care Trust and the transition Chief Executive of the new Surrey-wide PCT, will also be attending. The meeting will provide a forum for individuals to express their views on potential cost cutting exercises which could be rolled out across Surrey.Specific concerns lie with the future of A&E at Royal Surrey alongside the Maternity Unit and Paediatrics. Some campaigners fear all three essential services could fall victim to serious cuts.Jeremy Hunt said: “Now we have the two heavyweights from the local NHS attending, it is vital as many people come as possible to express their views. “There are real threats not just to local hospitals but now to A & E services, particularly at Royal Surrey. Only strong public support for the retention of these services will have any impact, which is why this meeting is so important.""The meeting is set to take place at The Management School at the University of Surrey on July 13 from 7pm until 9pm.Anne Milton said: “I am pleased that Nick Yeo and Nick Moberley are attending the meeting and I would urge all members of the public who are concerned about the future of local NHS services to attend. “Jeremy and I will continue to fight for local NHS services under attack from deficit induced cuts which is short term and short sighted.”
