Year Five girls at St Ives School in Haslemere, were invited by Jeremy Hunt MP to discuss their concerns about the amount of litter in our towns and countryside.
The girls have been learning about living in a democracy in their Learning for Life lessons and the rights that they have to express their views.
They researched facts to support their arguments and presented them in letters to Mr Hunt, together with suggestions for what they felt the Government should do to improve the situation.
They were delighted to see the democratic process in action and to have the opportunity to discuss their ideas in person. Mr Hunt explained the steps he would take to bring their views to the attention of the Government.
The girls were very encouraged that by following a democratic process, they had the opportunity to have their voices heard.
