My Plan

As local MP for SW Surrey, I have spent nearly 20 years working with local residents to get things done. And our work has paid off. Together we’ve:

  • Secured £25m to build a new Cancer and Surgical Innovation Centre at the Royal Surrey;
  • Got £4.5m invested for new flood defences in Godalming to stop the Wey fooding local homes;
  • Made the roads safer with average speed cameras secured for Bramley, Chiddingfold and Witley
  • Held Thames Water to account - with three successive CEOs coming to public meetings and committing to compensation and £206m of new investment to stop sewage overflows by the end of next year.

Great progress - but there’s much more to do… here’s my 6 point plan to make a positive difference in Godalming and Ash:

  • STEP FREE ACCESS FOR ASH VALE STATION

    Getting on a train at Ash Vale station is impossible for wheelchair users, families with prams or buggies and older people who can’t manage the steps. This is a big issue for many people as it is the mainline to London.  I secured funding for the much needed step free access at the station.
  • IMPROVE MOBILE PHONE RECEPTION

    Local broadband has been transformed over the last decade. But I know how terrible the phone and mobile data reception is in Cranleigh and many of our villages.
  • BETTER LOCAL HEALTH FACILITIES

    In my time as MP I stopped the closure of the Royal Surrey by the last Labour government and saved Haslemere hospital from closure. This parliament I secured the new community diagnostic centre for Milford hospital and stopped the closure of Boots in Farncombe.
  • ENHANCE ROAD SAFETY MEASURES

    Following recent successes securing speed cameras in 3 of our villages - Bramley, Chiddingfold and Witley. I will continue to push to ensure we improve road safety across Godalming and Ash.
