Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP, Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport joined over 40 MPs and Peers as they stepped out of Parliament and into St. James’s Park in London to complete a Mile and encourage the public to take part in the Sport Relief Mile on Sunday 25th March.First past the finish post was George Eustice with a time of 5 minutes and 28 seconds – beating the Westminster Mile 2010 winner David Davies by just one second. Hot on George’s heels was David Davies, finishing in five minutes and 36 seconds, followed by Secretary of State Jeremy Hunt, completing the mile in five minutes and 45 seconds. Members from both Houses met after Prime Minister’s Questions and were also joined by one of the UK's most successful Paralympians and crossbench peer in the House of Lords, Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson DBE as well as choreographer, director and TV presenter Arlene Phillips. Jeremy Hunt said: “Prince Harry challenged me to run the Sport Relief Mile with him in Rio at the weekend but St. James’s Park is better than Copacabana any day."" Tanni Grey-Thompson said: “Events like these are really special. It’s great to see colleagues from both houses coming together and doing something for Sport Relief. It just goes to show that everyone can join in the fun and take part in the Sport Relief Mile on Sunday 25th March. It’s a great day out and by getting sponsored, you’re raising money for a fantastic cause.”Politicians took part with the aim of encouraging the nation to take part in one of the hundreds of Sport Relief Mile events taking place across the UK on Sunday 25th March by entering the Mile at www.sportrelief.com. More than one men, women and children are expected to participate in the Sport Relief Mile by the end of the Sport Relief Weekend, Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th March.
