Local MP Jeremy Hunt is urging local residents to comment on Dunsfold Aerodrome’s application for a lawful development certificate which would allow for unrestricted flights on the site. The owners of the Aerodrome are claiming that because they already have longstanding aviation use at Dunsfold they don’t need planning permission to intensify aviation use at the Aerodrome because these rights already exist and are lawful. If this were permitted then local residents in Godalming, Haslemere and Dunsfold would be seriously affected. Local campaigners are fighting the application and Jeremy is urging local residents to comment on the planning application WA/2011/0520 on the Waverley website.
Jeremy says: “What is not being made clear is that this is not a straightforward planning application but an application for a lawful development certificate. The purpose of this is to certify that existing operations are lawful. This could have significant consequences for the area so what I am trying to find out is where we stand and whether the consequences set any legal precedent for use beyond 2012. I urge everyone to get online and add their comments. The closing date is May 20th”.""
