Over the last six months, individuals, and groups in villages and towns throughout South West Surrey have been working selflessly and tirelessly to help others in their local area stay safe and well.
Local MP, Jeremy Hunt in conjunction with Tindle Newspapers have joined forces to bring a new Community Heroes scheme which will acknowledge and shine a spotlight on those people going above and beyond to help others during these challenging times. The scheme celebrates those individuals who go that "extra mile” whether that be supporting their neighbours or individuals through the Covid-19 pandemic, fundraising or helping the community.
Jeremy said: “We have all been humbled by the numerous examples of people going the extra mile to help people in need during the pandemic. So, for the first time I decided to join forces with the Herald to recognise our South West Surrey Community Heroes to show just how much we appreciate their efforts. Please send nominations through to my website by 18th December so we can announce the awards in early 2021 and start the New Year acknowledging and thanking some really deserving people."
Please be aware that nominations have now closed. Keep an eye on this webpage for an announcement on winners in the New Year.
