Local MP Jeremy Hunt has spoken of his delight at last Thursday’s local election results which saw the Conservatives strengthen their control on both the Borough and Town Councils. In the Waverley VBorough Elections the party won 56/57 seats and in the Town Council results they took 54/56 seats. Jeremy said: ""With big majorities come big responsibilities, and given how marginal the parliamentary seat was only two elections ago local Conservatives will never be complacent. Regardless of the national picture, I think there was a recognition that local Conservative councils have been doing a good job in very difficult circumstances. They will need to be even more ingenious in the coming years as the financial situation locally is likely to get worse before it gets better""
