South West Surrey MP and the Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP is speaking at the Jalsa Salana convention this Friday.
The event is the formal gathering of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community that also has a centre in Islamabad in Tilford in Jeremy’s constituency. Organisers estimate that 30,000 will attend the key event that seeks to promote the peace and service to humanity. Jeremy will be addressing delegates and his speech will be relayed globally via the community’s satellite channel MTA International.
Jeremy said: “I am delighted to be addressing participants at this year’s Jalsa. I am looking forward to contributing to their overall message of Love for All Hatred for None and engaging with an international peace-loving community that also has a large presence in South West Surrey”.
The event is presided by the community’s worldwide spiritual leader (Khalifa) His Holiness Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, who is based in London where the community built London’s first mosque. It is currently engaged in a nationwide campaign that includes leaflets being distributed door to door in Surrey promoting loyalty, equality, freedom, respect and peace.
