Local MP and Secretary of State for the Olympics, Jeremy Hunt, is overseeing final preparations for the London 2012 Paralympic’s and has spoken of his delight at local involvement in the upcoming games. The Paralympic Games are set to be the second biggest sporting event in the world when they start next week and the area has its own Paralympic medal hopes competing in the 2012 games. Rachel Morris from Farnham will be taking part in the hand cycling and hoping to defend her gold medal from the Beijing games. Meanwhile Kylie Grimes also from Farnham is a member of the GB wheelchair rugby team. Alongside this Haslemere are currently hosting the Mongolian Paralympic archery team who are training at The Edge sports centre.
