Green Oak C of E Primary and Nursery school in Godalming, encourages all children to develop their talents through access to a varied and stimulating curriculum which is underpinned by the schools six values: Positivity, Endeavour, Trust, Consideration, Respect and Responsibility.
The school offers a wide and varied curriculum with a range of extra-curricular activities which include the Gardening Club, God’s Gang, Art Club, Football, Gymnastics, Breakfast Club and After School care.
In addition to this, the school has an extensive field which with an allotment area, large polytunnel and small farm that houses chickens, turkeys, two goats called Nancy & Geraldine and two pigs called Kevin Bacon and Onion! The school also has plans to establish an art and food technology room in the near future.
Jeremy Hunt officially opened the school's new Forest school. A definition that offers all learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidences and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in woodland or the natural environment with trees. This ethos is shared by thousands of trained practitioners across the UK and beyond.
Head teacher, Wendy Todd, on the school's website, states: "We want every child to have a sense of their own worth, the confidence to express themselves and recognise that they are a valued member of the school community. This term, we are appointing members to our Pupil Parliament who will represent all age groups from within the school. Our aim is to increase pupils’ knowledge and understanding of themselves and others to assist in their development as responsible citizens in an ever changing world."
