With regards to Amendment 7, I do not believe that this was necessary. Parliament had already been promised its say on the final withdrawal deal, so I was disappointed that my colleague Dominic Grieve MP pressed his amendment to a vote given these reassurances.
I have every confidence in the Government’s ability to secure a deal that guarantees a strong and special partnership with the EU. The Prime Minister has said that she wants the best possible access to European markets for UK businesses and I wholeheartedly agree with this aim.
